Right from the beginning of the project, Jules from Muracon was personable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Throughout the earthworks and concrete phases, he was very informative and easy to work with whilst being open to different ideas and suggesting alternative arrangements for an improved outcome, for detailed and specific rebates to the design as needed. Jules was constantly on time and hardworking with the finished concrete quality and finishing being of a high standard. Prep, mesh and concrete pour, then finish colour concrete, sawcut crack control joints. * Border to front of 3 dwellings, including paths coloured concrete. * Removal of old council footpath (20m), 2x crossovers, kerb and channel. * Reinstate all the above to council regulation. Julian from Muracon is very particular with his work and takes pride in his work. He is a good communicator and provides advice and listens to your concerns. His service, planning and efficiency to work to a schedule is second to none. Price point was reasonable compared to other quotes and is good value. Quality of finished product is fantastic, particular detail is given to drainage levels and falls, also the finished product has more than a few positive comments from other trades and even council inspector who inspected the external portion of the job. Julian did a great job in setting out, excavating and pouring the foundations of our house on a challenging sloping site in the middle of a wet winter. Additionally he installed subsurface drainage pipes around the site in response to hitherto unknown water flows in the soil substrates. 4 years later and proof of a job well done is in the complete absence of cracking in masonary walls, perfectly dry foundations and sub-floor space. An all-weather track was cut in and constructed of ballast rock and graded with the surface finished in a locally found sandstone coloured topping. This allowed the access for all vehicles and trucks which has proven to be most effective whereas before it was boggy and problematic… Since the house has been completed we have had Julian back to do much needed terracing and other associated earthworks with great success! Some of the work includes creating a rocked culvert to redirect rain water run off away from our house and water storage, spreading of mountain soil, fire safe clean up and more…. The 4ton crane set up on the tipper was great when constructing our old school carport with timber trusses as larger trucks didn’t have the room to get in…. we would recommend Muracon to any prospective builder, developer or home owner as their work ethic, dedication and knowledge puts them miles in front of the average concreter/ earthmover. We are forever grateful to have had Julian's expertise and consultation with regards to the site preparation, drainage, site cut, driveway and laying of foundations of our large 2-storey house and shed. Our building project was on a 5 acre bush block, with 1 acre cleared for the house and shed sites. (There was still some stump roots in the ground..) It would have been a much greater stress had we not, luckily, had the good fortune of Julian's years of experience and expertise in earthworks and troubleshooting for the laying of structural foundation for the house, and consultation on how to combat excessive groundwater and drainage to direct water away from the foundations. We did not realise how porous our clay was on the block (despite soil testing), however, the week the drought broke we soon discovered how much this was the case. Julian made sure that the structural integrity of the foundations would be optimal - his judgement in utilising strip footing (as opposed to pad footing in certain parts of the foundations) as well as his knowledge of concrete mixes and depth and sizes of footings was invaluable! His advice and help laying agricultural pipe drainage around the perimeter of the house also has proved invaluable! We have been in the house (which is rendered, internally and externally, on stumps) now for 2 years and there has been no movement at all - no cracks in the render! Thank you Jules We recently started a renovation in Seddon on a very tight site. After making a few calls to earthmoving companies who said the job was too difficult or they didn’t have the machinery to do the job. I came across a number for Muracon earthmoving. From the moment I met Jules I knew he was the man for the job. He had all the machinery to do the job and knew what it would take to achieve the result I was after. His price was accurate and he was more than fair with his time, even working longer hours, more than any other earthmoving company we have ever had work for us. He wasn’t fazed when we hit massive amounts of rock or even at how tight the site was. Jules honoured his price, even though the job went for an extra day. Jules of Muracon recently completed a raft slab, pad footings and under pinning works for our house extension in St Kilda East. When requested Muracon to do a quote for us, he promptly came out to the site without hesitation. We found that most concreters would only quote when recieving the architectural plans and not visit the site but Muracon came out and met with us to go over the plans and do correct measurements, etc. Jules was very accomodating and excellent to deal with. He completed the quote promptly and kept in contact throughout the process and answered all questions within 24 hours of asking. Muracon gave us the date of starting and actually started on this date which was amazing, as this rarely happens, especially over the busy christmas period. Our site wasnt the easiest to work with, being a very small cramped city site with many walls props to hold up the boundary wall and Muracon worked around this quite well. Our site consisted of 1.2m trenches with mass blindings and 11mm trench trench mesh. We found Muracon to be well organised, sticking to schedule and got the job completed without hick ups. They were very friendly, honest and extremely pleasant to work with and appreciate that in nowadays. I met Julian of Muracon when seeking to find a civil contractor that wasn't to big that the costs were too high, but not too small that there wasn't the capacity to fulfil the civil works at hand. I found him pleasant to deal with and confident at the scope he was asked to quote on, offering advice to improve what had been designed, but being mindful of the budget also. Optima has used Muracon quite a bit over the past year or so and we have found them to be proficient at their work and Julian often went out of his way to make sure what they were asked to do was done beyond what was required. On a larger scale project recently, the scope included preparing the site for a new build (which was very difficult for access due to steep slopes and had obstacles such as basalt rock shelves), we engaged Muracon to prepare the site, excavate and pour footings, install retaining walls and storm water plumbing and concrete pavements, all of which was completed on time and on budget. We have found that by using Muracon we have saved more than just dollars, but also long term heartache due to their foresight and experience. I would have no hesitation recommending Muracon to anyone who needs their services.
